This January Shoreditch Trust marked 20 years of supporting people in Hackney, with a special event, hosted at Shoreditch Town Hall.
The celebratory evening welcomed people who have used Shoreditch Trust services over the last two decades, staff and board members past and present, and people who have contributed to the development of the area.
Compere, comedian, and former Blue Marble trainee chef, Ken Grinnell, hosted the evening, which highlighted the achievements of the organisation, from setting up the Healthy Living Centre to creating bus 394 (straight to your door!) to make sure everyone in Hackney could reach the local hospitals and GP surgeries.
Chair Jeremy Gardner gave a speech of thanks, mentioning colleagues at the London Borough of Hackney, Homerton Hospital, City and Hackney Clinical Commissioning Group, Hackney Playbus, Connect Hackney, and Hackney Migrant Centre, as well as thanking funders from Macquarie to the Greater London Authority.
Guests danced the night away with Freddie Benedict and the Thomas Barlett Quintet, who appeared courtesy of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, pausing for slices of cake from Bakels, members of the Worshipful Company of Bakers, who worked with young chefs and staff from Shoreditch Trust’s Blue Marble Training programme to create a celebration cake for the event.

“I’d like to thank everyone who came and celebrated Shoreditch Trust’s 20th Anniversary with us, especially Shoreditch Town Hall for offering such a beautiful venue, and all of the sponsors who donated food and drinks to make the evening possible.
As a community of colleagues, partners, volunteers and residents, we work together for positive social change, and the evening was a celebration of the power of community and the spirit of Hackney.”
