Hackney leaders go the extra 13 miles for young people

Lots of us go the extra mile for our community, but would you run it, 13 times?

Leading figures in Hackney are taking on the challenge, running the Hackney Half Marathon to support Shoreditch Trust’s Blue Marble Training and other local charities.

Blue Marble supports vulnerable young people in the borough towards brighter futures. The project provides catering industry training, intense pastoral support and work experience in some of London’s top restaurants. Click here to find out more about how Blue Marble Training changes lives.

Blue Marble Training has had an amazing year as one of Hackney Speaker Clare Potter’s chosen charities, with fundraising dinners, raffles and events. As Clare’s time as Speaker draws to a close, three brave local leaders have stepped up to run the Hackney Half Marathon for her.

Mayor Philip Glanville, Councillor Chris Kennedy and Deputy Lieutenant Colonel Roderick Morris - the Queen’s representative to Hackney - will take on the gruelling 13.1 mile course on Sunday 19th May at 9am, cheered on by the Shoreditch Trust staff.
