Cllr Carole Williams is a five-term elected councillor. Having held many positions, Carole was first appointed Cabinet Member for Employment, Skills and Equalities in 2016, becoming the borough’s first ever Cabinet Member for Employment, Skills and HR.
Her portfolio is broad ranging, covering adult learning, volunteering, vulnerable migrants, trade unions and refugees and, in 2019, Hackney's response Cllr Carole Williams is at the forefront of the council’s anti-racism work and the Review, Rename, Reclaim work to make Hackney’s public spaces more representative of the communities that live here.
Carole sits on the Greater London Employment Forum and the Greater London Provincial Council and Chair Hackney’s Council Joint Committee which promotes cooperation between the Council as an employer with its employees through their Trade Unions.
This year, Carole was appointed as the lead member for People for Central London Forward (CLF), representing them on the Skills for Londoners Board, which advises the Mayor of London on adult skills policy.
Carole also sits on the Health and Wellbeing Board, is a Governor for Homerton NHS Hospital Trust and also a Cancer Research UK cancer champion.
