The Waterhouse Cookery School, available for company staff away days and private events, presents a fun, unusual option for those wanting to bond and grow as a team, learn new skills, or have an enjoyable and exciting culinary experience. The events are run by two teams from Shoreditch Trust, a registered charity aiming to improve the lives of the local community in Hackney.
Sessions are delivered by the Food for Life and Blue Marble teams. Food for Life is dedicated to addressing the issue of obesity in Hackney, delivering practical healthy eating and cooking activities. Blue Marble Training is a culinary training scheme for 16-25 year olds facing difficult circumstances, providing key skills training, pastoral support and guidance.
All proceeds from the Waterhouse Cookery School go straight into funding the invaluable work of Shoreditch Trust; every group of 12 people that participates in a Waterhouse Cookery School session facilitates 3 community classes, teaching adults and children in Hackney how to cook nutritious, affordable meals to improve their health. These great tips will be passed along during the Cookery School session, so participants can benefit from healthy eating advice too!
The unique setting of Shoreditch Trust’s training restaurant, Waterhouse, equips their team to guide you through the process of cooking, whatever your ability, allowing everyone to learn and experience something new.
These bespoke events allow you take advantage of the skills and knowledge on offer from these highly qualified teams. It is a greatly enjoyable experience for those involved – the most fun you can have whilst helping to change someone’s life!
There are also conferencing facilities available above the restaurant, including two fully-equipped meeting rooms and a breakout space. Companies can use these facilities to run their own activities, to make the Cook and Eat session part of a larger away day.
